People never seem to stop seeking new forms of entertainment in their life. They are always looking for something newer to be entertained by or the next experience. It doesn’t matter if the thrill takes place outside or from a machine. Often people will take a vacation expecting festivals, museums, and places to shop and eat. Eventually it all comes to an end. It becomes a memory that continually fades over time. With the mind so focused outward it will continue to crave more. It is hard to satisfy.
The only real experience that we will ever be able to keep with us is when we turn our mind inwards. We do best when slowing down and finding a focus rather than the confusion that people seek by remaining outward. With practice it builds and the silence just seems perfect.

Oh yes indeed.
But I think most people are afraid of silence, or perhaps afraid of themselves, or their thoughts. They're escaping without knowing.

There have been times and places that I absorbed and have with me. I find them when I go inside and through that door. Lovely.
Few modern people experience reality at all. Inhabiting a contrived existence, nearly all the normal stimulation of living is absent.
We miss reality when too much of it is taken away.
We try to satisfy a hunger without understanding its nature.
Speaking of vacations, my favorite ones are when I went to the beach. In Oregon & Washington, the beaches are rarely teeming with people because of the cool temperatures, rain and wind. So, while other people trotted off to the gift shops, restaurants and museums, my favorite activity is to sit in the sand in the rain watching and listening to the waves. Pure bliss!
