Culture
This time of year starts the many festivals that different cultures from around the world throw to celebrate their heritage. This weekend in the city alone there are 3 major events. While from a Taoist standpoint people are just people I can find very little with Taoist's discussing their view on other cultures. I plan on attending 2 of the 3 festivals for sure, with a hope to make the 3rd. I really enjoy authentic foods from around the world and viewing or participating in the traditional dances to the music. It is great to see the many cultures in my own backyard without having to travel the world. I wonder though, what are other peoples opinions on these events? There just isn't anything out there. May be an idea for a future post.

I think you are a fortunate person to have such diversity in your backyard. Enjoy the food and music for me, as well.
I don't care if music and food are "authentic" if I enjoy them, and I usually do.
Culture is sort of like dreams in that respect. If it's being shared, it doesn't make a difference if it's "made up" or not.
There is nothing "out-there" on this, because no taoist is very anxious to be labeled a bigot for speaking honest common-sense.
Left-leaning people feel it to be their right to have their left-leaning opinions.
While calling others bigots for having their other-leaning views, should those views not match their own.
I can see nothing authentic nor desirable in importing a foreign, often alien, culture into an existing one, usually in their millions, rather than journey to a far-off land where that culture actually is authentic.
I would say more, but experience has shown me that it would almost certainly turn out to be ill-advised.
Can a taoist be a bigot?
No. Only in the eyes of bigots.
A bigot is one who despises another viewpoint.
Taoists do not behave in such a way.
Smarter ones than me say nothing.
I understand why.
