With everything that makes us who we are we have very strong beliefs that drive us to do what it is we do. All the knowledge that our brains contain and the way the “program” works from that knowledge is contained in the neurons. There is nothing more in the brain other than the neurons and connectors. What was the function that allowed our neurons to retain knowledge?
As we move along through life our brain is constantly changing which means we as people are always become a different person based on these modifications. Every experience changes a portion of the brain as it adapts to the environment around us and to the reality that is perceived. Through evolution we have inherited what is actually needed. Other living creatures actually understand our world by this inheritance while we have to take the time to learn what they already know.
The knowledge that our brain already possessed is used to reconstruct the world around us. For instance, our eye perceives the world as 2 dimensional yet our brain already knows what is needed to take the light reflected onto our retina and make light an object in front of us. Without this evolved knowledge we could not perceive anything. Nature is responsible for what makes us who we are… but that damn ego…
I should quit taking biology classes. :)
